His Excellency Ahmed Saad Al Homidi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of the Philippines, attended the opening of the second regular session of the 19th Philippine Congress, on Monday, July 24, 2023, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representative's presidents, together with Heads and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions, United Nations Organizations and other International Organizations accredited to the Philippines, and representatives of local media.
The two Chambers of the Congress held their sessions simultaneously, in preparation for hosting His Excellency President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, to deliver his second the State of the Nation Address "SONA", since he assumed the presidency in June 2022.
This is the first time that the new session opened, after the lifting of the state of health emergency in the country, in the wake of the Corona-19 pandemic.
