Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of the Philippines on 05 May 2021, His Excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines sent a greeting message to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani - Emir of the State of Qatar "May Allah Bless Him", in which he renewed the Philippines' commitment to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries, referring to Qatar as an important friend and partner of the Philippines. Also, sent his congratulations to His Highness the Amir on the bold reforms undertaken by the government of the State of Qatar in the field of Labor and Employment.
Congratulatory messages were also exchanged by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, and The Honorable Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. - Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.
In his letter, The Honorable DFA Secretary said that the bilateral relations between the two countries have had many milestones in the last four decades as a result of the steadfast cooperation and mutual support on important issues in both regional and multilateral fora. Also, The Honorable expressed his appreciation to the State of Qatar for the hospitality extended to Filipino working and living in Qatar.
From his side, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar affirmed the strong and robust relationship between Qatar and the Philippines, and expressed Qatar’ desire to deepen cooperation relations across all fields, acknowledging that the Filipino community in Qatar has always been an integral part of Qatar’s development throughout the years.
In the video message recorded on this occasion, The Honorable DFA Secretary said that this event is a celebration of a steady Friendship and fruitful cooperation between the two countries. And he praised the reforms made by the government of the State of Qatar in the field of Labor and Employment, saying that it reflects the wisdom and compassion of recognizing the role of migrant workers in nation building.
